Fans of the current New Orleans-shot second season of “Preacher” can consider their prayers answered. Producers of the reliably unpredictable AMC series have filed paperwork to shoot its third season in the Crescent City as well.

It’s the first signal that AMC has green-lit the series for a third time around.

The filing with the Louisiana film office shows pre-production on Season 3 is slated to start in early November. Principal photography would begin Jan. 5, 2018.

That would put it on a similar production timeline as the current Season 2, which debuted June 25 on the cable channel — and which suggests a summer 2018 air-date for Season 3.

The new season would be shot on an estimated budget of $70 million, up slightly from the $67 million estimated for the 13-episode Season 2, the state filing shows. An estimated $50 million of that Season 3 budget would be spent in Louisiana, with $19 million of that earmarked for in-state payroll.

Based on the supernatural comic published by the DC imprint Vertigo in the 1990s, “Preacher” follows the adventures of a small-town Texas preacher (Dominic Cooper), who hits the road with his assassin ex-girlfriend (Ruth Negga) and his vampire best friend (Joseph Gilgun) in attempt to find — and have a word or two with — God, who has gone missing on Earth.

In Season 2, the fourth episode of which aired Sunday (July 9), their journey brings the characters to New Orleans.

Ten years after Meryl Streep proved she was a dancing queen, Universal Pictures is returning to the ABBA jukebox musical with “Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!”

The sequel will open July 20, 2018, the studio announced Friday. Ol Parker (“The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”) serves as writer and director.

It’s unclear who among the original cast might return, but the 2008 film starred Streep, Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan, Amanda Seyfried, Stellan Skarsgard, Christine Baranski, Dominic Cooper and Julie Walters.

The studio plans to mine music from the ABBA discography that was not featured in the 2008 film, which was based on a 1999 West End stage musical that became a Broadway hit starting in 2001. However, Univeral also assured fans that they will reprise classics used in the first — possibly including the title song, “Dancing Queen” and “Waterloo,.”

Littlestar’s Judy Craymer and Playtone’s Gary Goetzman will return as producers. Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus of ABBA return as music and lyric supervisors and executive producers.

A video-selfie campaign launches today calling on supermarkets to introduce a plastic free aisle in their shops. The campaign group A Plastic Planet is asking the public to film themselves on their phones and post the footage on its website.

Your 15 seconds

Their 15 seconds of fame needs to include an admission that they are a plastic addict but are ready for change and a demand that retailers introduce a plastic-free aisle in their outlets.

Independent has picked up international sales duties on “The Escape,” a drama about a woman who abandons her husband and children. The film, which is directed by Dominic Savage (“Love+Hate,” “Freefall”), stars Gemma Arterton and Dominic Cooper. It will be introduced to buyers at Toronto.

Arterton stars in Toronto festival entry “Their Finest,” while Cooper is a hit on AMC’s “Preacher.”

‘The Escape’ will be an exploration of marriage and motherhood,” said Arterton. “It is frank, honest and unapologetically from the woman’s point of view. It will be extremely personal. I look forward to embarking on it, surrounded by people I trust and who understand the intention, and to digging deep and finding truth.”

The production team have workshopped the script for several months, and shooting is scheduled for October in the U.K. and France.

The film is produced by Guy Heeley (“Locke,” “London Spy”) for Shoebox Films. Lorton, founded by Julian Bird, is financing and taking U.K. distribution rights.

Director of photography Laurie Rose (“Free Fire,” “High-Rise”) is on board, as is editor David Charap (“Sunset Song,” “The Woman in the Fifth”). The casting director is Shaheen Baig (“A Monster Calls,” “Locke,” “Free Fire”). Costumes will be designed by Liza Bracey (“The Girl With All the Gifts,” “The Boy in Striped Pajamas”).

Independent’s managing director Andrew Orr said: “The Escape” deals with a subject that is “still very much taboo in our society – a woman who loves her children but does not feel fulfilled by the role of being a mother.”

Savage said: “I look forward to embarking on a journey of truth and revelation that will tell this important story of motherhood, marriage, responsibility and freedom.”

Arterton is represented by Independent and CAA. Cooper is represented by Markham, Froggatt & Irwin and CAA.
